Mercado Central

The Mercado Central is the biggest of the four city market hall in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is placed between the harbor and the Canteras beach, one street behind the El Corte Inglés close to the Plaza Espana.

The market is spread over 2 floors. On the ground floor is maily a huge selection of fresh fish and meat available, but also cheese, fruits and vegetables, coffee and tea, confectionary and other specialtys can be bought here.

On the upper floor, which can be reached via a starrcase or elevator can be found a wide range of fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs. Downstairs in the rear part of the building additionally is a small shopping arcade with cafes, shoe- and clothing stores.

The market hall is opened from monday-saturday 07:00am to 02:00pm. The small shopping arcade from 07:00am to 07:00pm.

Also worth seeing is the market in the small towm Vega de San Mateo 20km from Las Palmas. It is specially recommended on sundays, when livemusic and dance are shown.
