Excursions & transfer, ferries to Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, further travel per bus & Taxi
Las Palmas port (Puerto de La Luz) is a several square kilometers large area with different docks for cruise ships, ferries, cargo ships, with shipyards and warehouses. Guests of of the Armas or Fred Olsen ferries from Tenerife, Fuerteventura or passengers of the cruise ships often forgett to provide orientation about where the cruisers pier (Muelle) Santa Catalina is located, where the ferries to Santa Cruz, Morro Jable or Puerto del Rosario dock and and cast off, how to get to the airport of Gran Canaria or which opportunities for excursions and sights are are close before they arrive at the port.
The port of Las Palmas has certainly one advantage: It has very well transport links and is located very centrl in the district Santa Catalina, with many attractions just a few hundred meters from the cruisers dock.

close to the port: sightseeing, beach & hotels
The red double-decker "City sightseeing busses" also depart derctly at the port, but sometimes for higher tariffs than on days without sruise ships or at other stops.
Who wants to visit the beautiful old town districts Vagueta & Triana, can just enter at the 500m off Parque Santa Catalina into one of the yellow local busses, number 1 (Guaguas municipales), or also take a taxi at the park for about 5 to 6€ to the Parque San Telmo or the Plaza Cairasco as starting point for a tour through the old town.
The Canteras beach and Santa Catalina are even more close, a short 1000 meter walk past to the Parque Santa Catalina through the streets c/Ripoche or c/ Luis Morote will lead you directly to the most beautiful section of the Canteras beach.
Who also booked a overnight stay in Las Palmas, is mostly almost at the right place: most hotels of the city are located only 300 to 1000 meters from the cruise port. Often there is not even a taxi needed, if the luggage would not be..
Favorable further journey by local bus: the "Terminal Santa Catalina" located next to the cruise ships dock "Muelle Santa Catlina" and the Naviera-Armas ferrie terminal. From there you can get at every full hour in about 40 minutes to the airport or with about 1 1/2 hours of driving time to the south of the island Gran Canaria, to Playa del Inlgés or Masplaomas.
